Liquid rocket engine

Personal project, team lead, September 2025 to present

A LOX and ethanol engine I started designing on my own. It has since grown into a collaborative effort, and I lead a small team of students building it.

I developed the CAD models, pintle injector geometry, and combustion chamber components, using simulation to guide the sizing.

Servo-actuated main run valves

Society of Advanced Rocket Propulsion (SARP) at UW, 2026

I designed, simulated, and manufactured the servo-actuated ball valves that serve as the main propellant valves on SARP's Domecracker bipropellant rocket.

A trade study and flow analysis validated operation up to about 1,000 psi. The design went through three versions, and V3 is now in actuation testing.

Wave energy converter structures

Washington Wave, November 2025 to present

Structural design for a prototype wave energy converter, including the test structure that mounts it in UW's Harris Hydraulics Lab wave pool.

I evaluate design configurations for strength, stability, and manufacturability in a marine environment, and I'm working to characterize the forces on the device and estimate the energy potential of a full-scale model. The team competes in the U.S. Department of Energy's Marine Energy Collegiate Competition.

Group project, winter quarter 2025

A prototype prosthetic hand designed for a design competition. We took it from a first CAD concept through a refined second version, then 3D printed and wired a working prototype with servo-driven fingers.
